Skulduggery Pleasant

Welcome to Y6K!

I hope you have all enjoyed your first week back; I certainly have!
We are well into our class novel: Skulduggery Pleasant. What do you all think about it so far?
I am looking forward to reading your descriptions of the new characters you are creating- will they fit into the genre of Skulduggery Pleasant?

World Book Day

Well done everyone for dressing up for our Shakespeare themed World Book Day. You made a fantastic effort and you all looked amazing. We are very impressed with you analysis of Shakespeare’s work. We hope you are inspired to read more of Shakespeare’s work!

Farewell fair maidens and sires.

Next week in maths….

Next week in maths we will be improving our knowledge of adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. Remember, to do this we must first convert them to the same denominator by finding the lowest common denominator. Look at the explanation below then have a go for yourselves. Then try adding or subtracting fractions with mixed numbers….

Have fun

Maths Week 3

Getting ahead in Maths!

Hi Y6

Next week in maths we will be looking at reflection and translation in the 4 quadrants.
Can you remember how to read co-ordinates? ‘Along the corridor and up the stairs’ we plot the horizontal axis first then the vertical axis and the coordinate is where the two meet.

The point in the centre of the 4 quadrants is (0,0) and this is called ‘the origin’ The left horizontal axis and the bottom vertical axis contain the negative numbers.
Translation means to move the shape from one position to another without changing its size or position.
Reflection means to ‘flip’ the shape over along either the vertical or horizontal axis.

Click on the link below to play a game involving coordinates. Make sure you click the green Full Screen box to play it full size.

Christmas Party!

We had a rocking Christmas party.

Great games; manequin challenge at the disco and then finished with a little cleaning after the party food. :)

I hope you all had fun; we certainly did!

Take a look at Y6T’s page for all the crazy photos :-0

Character Description

Hi Year 6,

This week we have been looking at creating interesting character descriptions based on our book Skulduggery Pleasant.

My task, for you, is: using all the techniques you have learnt so far, can you use your amazing imagination and write a character description which shows everyone how much of an amazing author you are?

I’m looking forward to reading your ideas.

Meet our Buddies!

Y6 spent Thursday afternoon with their reception buddies. We had lots of fun reading to them, playing and dressing up. Have a look at our photos; see if you can spot yourself with your buddy and let us know what you enjoyed about it.

Skullduggery Pleasant

Hi Y6!

We are nearly half way through our new book Skullduggery Pleasant for our context ‘Things that go Bump in the Night’. I would like to know if you are enjoying our new novel and if you like it as much as you liked Stormbreaker.
Can you compare the 2 novels, identifying any similarities and say which novel you prefer. Remember to justify your opinion :-)

Also have a look at our Boreatton Park pictures and don’t forget to comment.
